How Fieldbase stacks up
against the incumbents.

Honest side-by-side comparisons with other research-grade survey platforms. We concede where incumbents are stronger — Google and readers both see through pages that don't.

Fieldbase vs Qualtrics →
A code-first alternative to the drag-and-drop standard.
  • In-platform code editor (YAML + Python-like scripts) vs drag-and-drop canvas
  • AI drafts the survey from a Word/PDF spec
  • Pre-field Design Test for CBC/MaxDiff (D-efficiency, implied-N)
  • Transparent pricing — free in early access
Fieldbase vs Decipher →
A modern DSL alternative to the programmer-first incumbent.
  • YAML DSL instead of XML + script tags
  • AI drafts the code from a spec document
  • Design Test with Design Health + Precision scorecards in-editor
  • Modern browser UI (editor, chat, data hub, report module)
Fieldbase vs SurveyMonkey →
A research-grade alternative when forms stop being enough.
  • Real quotas that hold under concurrent traffic (not soft counts)
  • CBC + MaxDiff with Design Test built in
  • SPSS .sav + .dat/.sps + ASCII export; companion long CSVs
  • Programmable script blocks beyond skip logic
Fieldbase vs Alchemer →
A modern DSL alternative to the Lua + JS scripting world.
  • Python-like scripts in YAML vs Lua + JS actions
  • AI drafts the survey from a spec document
  • In-app CBC utilities + live share simulator
  • Pre-field Design Test (D-efficiency, implied-N) in-editor
Fieldbase vs Forsta Plus →
A focused, independent alternative to the Forsta portfolio.
  • Modern YAML DSL + Python-like scripts vs merged legacy platforms
  • AI drafts the survey from a spec, AI chat for live edits
  • Pre-field Design Test for CBC/MaxDiff (D-efficiency, implied-N)
  • Independent single-product vendor — no portfolio-churn risk
Also worth looking at: the evaluation checklist for Qualtrics or Decipher alternatives — a vendor-agnostic framework for comparing survey platforms, covering quota precision, export surface, CBC/MaxDiff depth, programmability, pricing, compliance, and vendor viability.
